The PEGS Europe Protein and Engineering Summit is the largest protein & antibody engineering event in Europe and has been described as "the best biologics technology meeting in Europe." The event will take place both virtually and in person from 2 - 4 November 2021 in Barcelona, Spain. Scientific Advisor of Coriolis Prof. Kersten gives talk about mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines

On 3 November, Scientific Advisor of Coriolis Prof. Dr. Gideon Kersten will give an exciting talk about "mRNA-Based COVID-19 Vaccines: Structure, Formulation and Stability". He will discuss the recently introduced vaccines based on lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) with encapsulated mRNA strands encoding the viral spike glycoprotein of SARS-CoV-2 and how they have shown to be particularly effective in preventing COVID-19 infection. However, Prof. Kersten will outline an important drawback of the current mRNA-LNP COVID-19 vaccines: they have to be stored at (ultra) low temperatures. He will discuss proposed structures of mRNA-LNPs, factors that impact mRNA-LNP stability and strategies to optimize mRNA-LNP vaccine product stability.
