Prof. Dr. Hristo Svilenov joins Scientific Advisory Board of Coriolis Pharma

Prof. Dr. Hristo Svilenov is a pharmacist by training with expertise in the design, formulation development and analytical characterization of biotherapeutics. Since 2022, he is an associate professor of biopharmaceutical manufacturing technology and formulation at Ghent University.

Before moving to Ghent, Prof. Svilenov spent two years as a postdoctoral scientist at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) where he worked in the newly established Centre for Functional Protein Assemblies (CPA). In 2019, he successfully defended his PhD thesis with "summa cum laude" as a Maria Skłodowska-Curie fellow at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in the group of Prof. Dr. Gerhard Winter. Previously, he also worked as a research scientist in a biotech company and as a teaching assistant at the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria.

Prof. Svilenov will actively be involved in project discussions and will contribute with his long-year experience to successful project outcomes. Scientific highlights in Prof. Svilenov's (academic) career:

Within a short time, Prof. Svilenov has obtained several fundings for his research including grants from the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation, the Peter und Traudl Engelhorn-Stiftung and the special research fund of Ghent University. He won several prizes like the Carl Wilhelm Scheele Award from the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG), the Abbvie Award for his doctoral thesis and the Tinkov Award in pharmaceutical technology. Prof. Svilenov is an active member of professional societies like the American association of pharmaceutical scientists (AAPS) and a regular reviewer for several leading pharmaceutical journals. He has authored more than 20 scientific papers and has given over 15 invited podium presentations at international conferences.
